Pacific Crystal Palace in Victoria Square , Christchurch, for the Christchurch Festival, Winter 2001

Inspired by the fabulous ornate wooden travelling tents of Europe such as the Dans Paleis, the Pacific Crystal Palace extends this tradition into the 21st century.

While maintaining the lavish mirrored interior aesthetic of the the Dance Palaces of old, the Pacific Crystal Palace is built from modern materials, to suit New Zealand conditions and climate.

Features like insulation, covered entry porch, full flow ventilation with heating and cooling, full three phase electrical distribution, lighting and sound rigging positions, fully plumbed and equipped bar, make the Pacific Crystal Palace a venue comfortable for your patrons and easy on your support staff, whatever the weather or occasion.

The Pacific Crystal Palace features 14 built in booths with seating for up to 10 people, complete with tables and ornate cut and mirrored glass divisions between each booth for privacy. These booths (7 per side) open to and are arranged around the circular polished matai and tawa dance floor, while at one end of the venue is a raised stage, and the other the lavishly decorated bar.

A 360 degree clearstory of stained glass admits natural light filtered and split into prisms of colour and pattern; during the day this maintains and enhances the magic and splendour of the interior, and at night the glowing colours spilling into the dark advertise a crystal palace of richness and excitement.
