The Trafalgar Centre, 13 Paru Paru Rd, Nelson, New Zealand.
P.O.Box 779 Nelson; Ph:(03) 539 1301

The Trafalgar Centre is an Events complex similar in concept to others around New Zealand - for example the TSB Stadium in New Plymouth or the larger Events Centre in Wellington.

Built in 1972, opening February 1973, the venue is a multipurpose space with a large sprung floor and permanent elevated bleacher type seating along the sides of the event area. The main stadium can accommodate multi sports courts at one time - for example three tennis courts, or two basketball courts etc.

Four large rooms under the east gallery and opening out onto a large playing field can be used for meetings, marae type accommodation, function rooms etc.

The centre hosts sports events, trade shows, exhibitions, special events , concerts etc.
Ample car parking within the complex grounds, and a pleasant 5 minute walk to the centre of the city.

The venue underwent a significant upgrade from July 2008 to Feb 2009 which resulted in the Southern end undergoing an entire rebuild creating something in the region of 1500m2 of additional floor space; a second and third floor mezzanine; new storage areas; the installation of cargo doors; a new floor with a point load of nine tons; and a new suspended ceiling. In addition the old club rooms have been removed and new changing/toilet facilities incorporated. Roof water is collected and stored.

Clicking on the above icon will open a two colour gif plan of the venue. The gif plan is optimised to print on landscape A4 paper direct from the browser.
Use this option for a quick preview of the venue plan, or if you have no CAD software. It shows a basic plan of the venue, but will lack detail, is missing text, and information on layers that are not shown - check with the CAD screen shot icon at right to compare this drawing with the info available in the actual CAD file.
Once printed, you might want to check the scale, and mess about with a photocopier to get the drawing into some kind of usable size.

Drawing Notes: drawing from onsite measurements 01/03.
The drawing shows the west gallery as if the seating were continuous - i.e. without the inbuilt stage area seen in the interior panoramas above because the stage is about to be removed and seating upgraded.
